Santee Wedding
Santee is a city in San Diego County, California, United States. The city is named after Milton Santee, second husband of Jennie Blodgett, whose first husband was George A. Cowles, a ranching pioneer in the San Diego area. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, Santee had a population of 52,975.
Prior to its in incorporation, in December 1980, the adjacent city of El Cajon had been annexing many of the choice areas of unincorporated Santee. The community incorporated to protect its tax base from further encroachment by El Cajon.
A middle-class suburb of San Diego, the majority of Santee is Republican, but over the years, the city has become more mixed and other parties have become more common. This may be due to the booming housing industry; some properties gaining over $100,000 in equity in one year.
On March 5, 2001, 15-year-old Charles Andrew Williams opened fire in a boys' bathroom at Santana High School in Santee. Two students died, and thirteen students were wounded. He plead guilty and was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.
